Hey SmallWorlds Movie Makers!
Aprilicious for SmallWorlds movie makers can only mean one thing: Movie Contest! …and not just any movie contest. SmallWorlds is Apriliciously excited to announce the
“Aprilicious Movie Parody Contest”
Yes movie directors, Aprilicious brings you your big chance to direct your favorite movie the way YOU always wanted to see it! You can change elements of it (ie: a western version of Star Wars, or perhaps a comedy version of Harry Potter?), but you’ll need to make sure that your final product is still recognizable as the movie you’re trying to parody – ie: don’t change the basic storyline! Now 3 mins is a very short amount of time to fit a whole movie into, so you may just want to choose a few classic scenes? SmallWorlds is SO looking forward to seeing just how you work with this! SmallWorlds hasgot four different categories, for which they will choose 1 winner in each.
All movies must be entered under one of these genres. If you do not specify the genre that applies to your film, the judges will assign one for you. All category winners will receive a Platinum Dan. We will be loading winning entries into a space where you can go view them, and we’ll be splashing the winners names all over Social Media: including in First Post!
Movie Contest Rules
A) 1 entry per person. B) All films must be entered under one of the 4 categories listed above. C) Film cannot be longer than 3 minutes. D) All entries must be in by 11:59PM SWT on April 28th.
To Enter
1) Create your movie 2) Upload it to YouTube.com 3) Post the YouTube link in this thread along with a) the category you are entering and b) the name of your film and c) the name of the movie you are parodying. Creating a SmallWorlds Video Here's what you'll need: 1. SCREEN RECORDING SOFTWARE: This is similar to taking a screenshot, only it actually records video. Google Search for MAC: http://goo.gl/FqLPU Google Search for PC: http://goo.gl/CZzbL 2. MOVIE EDITING SOFTWARE: This is how you actually edit together the scenes for your movie, add sound, etc. Try a few of them out to see which you like. If you have a Mac you can also use "iMovie" which is installed by default. Do a Google search for "movie editing software free". 3. SOUND: A great movie has a great soundtrack and/or great sound effects. Just do Google searches for "free sound effects", "free background music", "free sound library" etc - or if you know what sound effects just make your search more specific. 4. PLANNING & SCRIPT: You’ll always get the best results from careful planning. Any time you spend planning will actually save you time in the long run. Do some research on YouTube and watch some great SmallWorlds films that people have already made (there's a small sample on youtube.com/smallworlds). Maybe watch Hollywood trailers, etc to get inspiration. Have a great script and work out how you want to shoot your scenes. Make sure your actors know what they're supposed to say and do ahead of time - you might even want to use a voice programme like Skype to coordinate with each other during the shoot. Have fun, and the very best of luck to everyone! | |
Good Luck!!!
